Jim Thiel Passes

Oooh dear....very sad news indeed. When I moved to Nashville, TN in 1994 from Los Angeles, I loaded up my little 1986 Nissan Sentra and drove my
(bought at Gene Rubin Audio in California) pair of Thiel 03A's from Nashville to the Thiel factory in Lexington, KY where Mr. Thiel and company completely refurbished my 03A's for me at ZERO cost! I bought the Thiel 03A's in the 1980's as USED speakers. Nevertheless, Mr. Thiel and company still fixed em up for me no questions asked. Nearly thirty years later (from original purchase) I STILL own the Thiel 03A's and enjoy listening to them every single day and night as part of my Bedroom Audio/TV system. THANK YOU so very much Mr. Jim Thiel for all the years of wonderful service you provide
(at NO charge) to keep my 03A's up and running and sounding wonderful.
May you RIP Mr. Thiel. A THIEL fan forever.

Regards,
Thomas Patrick Shortall, Jr.
aka Tom Patrick
aka SixCats!

I am very sorry to find out about Jim's passing. I can confirm that he was a very nice fellow, a true gentleman. He came to Montreal to visit our shop with Kathy Gornick and I believe the third person was Jim's brother (Tom?). Again, it has been a while, but I do remember one thing for certain, they were wonderful people. Very down to earth and straightforward in their dealings, something that was not necessarily the norm in the audio business. They believed in and cared about their products as well as being very interested in doing the best they could for their customers. I am sure he will be missed.

One of my hero's. All speakers sound better because of him. He made his compitition get off of their asses and do some r&d.
