Jimmy Page demands fair pay for musicians from streaming companies

LOL, Mainstream Pop and Country has been formulaic for a long time, but the last 30 years have been horrible. One reason I swung into Country over a decade ago was that it was, and probably is the last refuge of the songwriter/storytellers........see the journey of Darius Rucker for example. Once in a GREAT while I hear a pop song that makes me stop and listen, but I cant remember the last time. But there still are the George Straits and Midlands that still put out really good stuff.

Agree with some and don't agree with some of that, but that's is the great thing about this hobby, do it how "you" like.

I like talking about equipment etc but I rarely talk about music since it is so subjective.
But so is equipment really. Mine is all black and from this decade.

To you pop point, IMO it has been formulaic from the get go and never really my thing. There are some "catchy" tunes I can tolerate, but that's the genres point, nothing I really like.

But I am an old metalhead that listens to most everything but pop and country.

I have black equipment from this decade as well......my Marantz 7025 amp for example......but it is hooked to 90s Kenwood preamp and tuner but also black. I still have some silver faced stuff just for fun. I have two systems in the bedroom, main in the front room with modern Marantz/Polk HT and 80s MCS receiver with Minimus 7Bs for the computer.

I prefer real stained or oiled wood speakers however since our decor for our place is Mid Century Modern.

I watched a documentary a couple years ago, I don't remember its title, but anyway it was about these two guys that "write" a lot of the popular pop music.
They use a computer algorithm to do it. Then sell the songs. They were making a lot of money cranking out pablum for the masses. And now with AI it will just get even worse for real musicians and real song writers.
Yep. They develop the tools that make us more efficient and, eventually, make us unnecessary.

I remember being a COBOL programmer back when there was no such thing as copy and paste. Every time a line of code referenced a specific field in working storage I had to manually type it in. Sometimes dozens (or more) of times. The most common compile error was misspelled working storage names. The introduction of copy and paste was a huge boon to programming.

Well I am still confused by your comment since rap stated in the early 70's.
Maybe as a novelty in New York but it sure wasn't mainstream enough to have enough variety for AI to work with. Plus, it evolved quite a bit from mainstream RUN DMC/Aerosmith, Young MC, Beasty Boyz, Tone Loc to ganster rap in the late 80's to 90's and of course MC Hammer.

There were some hits here and there before that, but Blondies Rapture was the first one I heard on the radio that I can recall.

   I see your still on the radio thing:dunno:

I have a few yeaes on you and remember listening to stuff my friends older brothers were playing in 74/75ish ;)
