Hi,

Does anyone have any of Joe bonamassa's music? Can you tell me which lp's or cD's are the best? I watched him on PBS last night , amazing!

Thanks,

I've got Slo Gin (2007) and the Ballad of John Henry (2009) - both good. Saw Joe Bonamassa perform at the Casino Ballroom, Hampton Beach, NH in summer 2009.

He has a couple of studio albums out from 2010 and 2011 which are supposed to be up to his normal high standards as well, but I haven't heard either yet.

His latest effort, "Dustbowl" is worth adding to your pile. Very reminiscent of Johnny Winter at times.

I have Blues Deluxe, You & Me, and Live from the Royal Albert Hall (all on CD, not LP). All are excellent.

He played here in Hong Kong this past year. Really talented, incredible performer; if you get a chance to see him, do so! He was interviewed on the radio then, and he seemed like a really nice, down-to-earth kind of guy, too, dedicated to his craft (as I guess you'd have to be, to become as good as he is), humble about his accomplishments and with a sense of humor.

. . . the European Vinyl pressing of "Dust Bowl" is really REALLY nice! For some reason there is not currently a U.S. pressing of this album, but amazonU.K. had it for 9-pounds when I ordered it a few months ago. (It is pressed by "PROVOLOGUE" in, if I remember right, Holland.) One can also order it directly from the "Provologue" website. Considering the lack of a domestic pressing, the reasonable cost and the excellent quality of the pressing it really is worth waiting the extra week for those who want, or need, to have this album on Vinyl. (And no, they do not use the CD master . . . . thankfully.)
~Peace,
Dave

Saw him live just a couple of months ago. Excellent musician. He played for 2.5+ hours without a break. Have quite a few of his CDs. I like The Ballad of John Henry, Blues Deluxe and Dust Bowl. Was not crazy about Black Rock IIRC.

His work with Black Country Communion is amazing as well their 2nd album just came out. It's him, Glen Hughes , Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian. I love both albums.

My favorite is a live album that he did in 2001 called (A New Day Yesterday Live).

It is recorded at a small club in Indiana on the road supporting the album "A New Day Yesterday". There is a DVD that you can get on line that is excellent! A few covers on this and the sound quality is soundboard and the camera work is fantastic.

Order it today!

While the Royal Albert Hall performance is good, I see it as almost too polished with everything in the right place, the solos predictable and too "suit and tie" rock and roll for me. I like the raw performance in a small club like I mentioned.

You may want to also check out the band Bloodline that he was with about 17 years ago with a few famous musicians sons...The group's members were drummer Erin Davis (son of Miles Davis), rhythm guitarist Waylon Krieger (son of Robby Krieger), and bassist and lead vocalist Berry Oakley, Jr. (son of Berry Oakley), Joe was only about 15 when he joined that band as the lead guitar player
