Jolida JD 302B impulse buy

thanks mboldda1, I had seen what I assumed was a fuse holder but for the life of me couldn't get it off, anyway, just took it in to have them look at it and it took him forever to get the fuse holder out, it actually broke when being removed (not a great design), anyway, was the fuse and probably blown because the bias was off, apparently the orignal owner had upgraded the tubes but maybe not reset the bias, so all should be good now, looking forward to trying out my creek cd tonight
 
everything is back to normal! whew! being without a tube system for one night was very bad, makes me want a back up system possibly!

I am sharing your response with my wife as I get irritable when I am without my system. So much so that I got a few pairs of Shure inner-ear-monitors - IEMs (E5 and E4c) to use with my archaic portable CD player (which is really an MP3 player in disguise :smoke: ) when I am on the road (or in the skies or wherever). At least that is the excuse I made after she found out how much I forked out for the IEMs. Now I have to somehow break the news about a trip to the audiologist to be properly fitted for those things (I just love 'em so). :yes:

Dave/Peter, I don't know if I could go through it again, all I thought when going back to ss was "this is icky", I think a "back-up" tube system might be more than I can afford so will hope for the best.

So far my favorite component with the jolida is my creek cd43 mk2, I can't get enough of it, the reel to reel material is great but can't believe what I am hearing from cd's. I need a decent phono pre, not sure how to approach that, I have a rega planar 3 with stock tonearm and shure m97 x cartridge, pretty sure that is average type stuff so not sure how much will have to be spent to go in that direction, for now though I just love this jolida/creek combo, my friend had researched my amp after I bought it and said that it is apparently a good combo.
 
I like to re-bias whenever I change locations, too. Power voltage can fluctuate a lot, and if your home is different than where it was biased, it can run hot or cold comparitively. Before you get a tube tester, get a multi-meter and learn to bias the amp.

Whoa whoa! One step at a time! I feel your pain. I don't think I can go back to ss either, but one has gotta make do sometimes. Squidward's rebiasing seems prudent as well.

One of my quotes was remembered by quite a few folks overseas, "I bet that would sound good on the tubes!" And upon my return, it did!

I do have a multimeter and watched the bias procedure in the shop, will double check it again tonight,
 
bias was fine, one tube though was out of the 36-44 range by less than 1 mv, brought all 4 output tubes to within a 1 mv range of 40mv (speakers connected, amp warmed up and all inputs disconnected), checked after a few hours and seems fine, thanks for all the comments and helpful suggestions
