Just built some simple speakers

Welcome Wergel and hope you enjoy your stay. The first speaker that I built which had a new driver, rather than a used one out of an old TV, also was about 6.5" with a whizzer. I think it cost $7.50, which was rather pricy for a teen in 1967. My C. Crane EP Pro radio also has a decent sounding speaker with a whizzer. Some well-regarded and expensive single-driver speakers also utilize a whizzer.

I'd have thought that technology might have bypassed whizzers by now, but I guess they're still an effective and efficient way to gain some upper frequencies on the cheap. Gotta go & whizz now.

My last name is Zwergel.

Sorry for the mistake. I was thinking along the lines of ZZ Top.

Thanks for posting, though. Are those sealed cabinets and what are the sound characteristics? Good focus with one driver?

Any thoughts?

Nice ! Did you use the recommended .5 cu.ft. sealed box?

I am considering the 8" version for a bit more bass...

A wizzer cone has little to do with cheap, you'll need two of these for stereo.
