Hello ALL

I just picked up the JVC QL-A7 and when played about halfway through the record skips. I tried 3 records and same thing happened, it is skipping halfway through the record. Any thoughts? fixes? Thank you for advance

Step 1: adjust the counterweight so that the arm floats in the air, going neither up or down, and turn anti-skare to "0"
Step 2: bring the arm as close to the spindle as possible
Step 3: dial in the anti-skate so that the arm juuuust begins to float back across the platter (around 0.1-0.3) to the arm rest and observe for any binding, particularly around the mid-point where you are having skipping issues. If the arm doesn't bind or stop, then the horizontal bearings are likely okay.
Step 4: Thoroughly clean the stylus by dipping it into melamine sponge a dozen or more times (Mr. Clean Magic Eraser)
Step 5: Verify all arm setup parameters: tracking force (with a scale), anti-skare, cartridge alignment.
Step 6: have your stylus inspected under a microscope by a professional who knows what they are doing

If you encounter any difficulties in any of these steps, you will know where your issue lies.
 
I also have a QL-A7 that is in the system currently. I agree with the all of the above suggestions. What I would also add is to check the setting of the record size. It is possible that it may be on the setting for a 7" record instead of a 12" record.

This setting can be found where the lever to lift the tonearm is (front right side).

I think this is the fix! Had one and I believe this was something I dealt with.
