KEF R900s?

So, I've decided to finally upgrade my current speakers. I've been thinking about the KEFs R900. My price range is anything $5k and under. I'm running a REGA Elix-R and REGA RP6 TT.

The room is reasonably small (over a 3 car garage) with hardwood floors. Anyone have experience with the KEF R900s? What else should make my short list? I know speakers are intensely personal. I listen to jazz probably 85% of the time and rock 15%.

If $5k is your high end, I'd just get a pair of the new R11's rather than R900. Everything that wasn't ideal with the R900 is now corrected to the "Nth degree." The new ones are simply incredible.

In my experience, the R900's larger drivers aren't as fast-acting as the more plentiful yet smaller ones on the R11, and the tweeter and midrange are far more refined. Reaching higher without ever being sharp. Better finishes on the cabinets too.

So at the risk of inserting more confusion into my purchase, a friend recommended the Revel Performa3 F206. Does anyone have thoughts on how the KEF R7s compare? I don't have a place locally where I can auditioned either pair.
