I believe I misrepresented the problem in the way I described it, let me try again.
The tone controls work correctly throughout the control it changes the tone. What I was trying to say was in the last 10% of the treble control when I push it between 9 to 10 (either 3kHz or 6kHz) it's like something opens up at that range only. It's harder to hear this in my Audeze EL-8 open-backs vs. using my Wharfedale Diamond 220 bookshelf speakers (where it's obvious as night and day when it happens). It's almost as if the controls have an EXTREME log curve, more like an exponential curve actually. Could it be the boost or cut in dB level throughout the range that is the problem? If anyone needs me to measure something, I can do it.
I can roll the highs out if I run the control to the left (as expected), so I know the tone control is working overall. Perhaps they intentionally did this for people who really want that treble boost? Can some people with the C-2 please check if you notice the same thing?
Begin playing an acoustic or mainly vocals album, turn the treble control to 3kHz (usually the easier of the two to tell this is happening) and begin to slowly turn the control to the right stopping around 7-8. Then continue to turn it all the way to 10 and see if you notice what sounds like a high frequency lift/spike that occurs between 9 to 10 on the control.
I am working on a review for the Burson Play v2.0 with all V6-OPA Classics (5 of them) and this is a little off topic, but does anyone have a good place/thread suggestion to ask for help on getting accurate audio measurements like SNR, DR, THD, Noise Floor, Jitter, IMD, etc.
