KA-9100 The heatsinks are forged in such a way that they form the rear 'feet' and much of the sides of the enclosure, and are an integral part of the construction.
KA-9300 The power transistors are mounted on oversized heatsinks - in fact, special attention has been taken to insure proper thermal distribution - the inner side of the heatsink has profiled ribs to compensate for lower ventilation with a larger area.
KA-9300 is the Japanese version of the Supreme Model 600, with a few minor changes here and there (most noticeably the two toroid transformers instead of the standard E/I core trannies of the US models).
and last but not the least The Transformers and Capacitors
KA-9100 The power amp sections are moved onto outboard mounted massive forged heatsinks, and the power supplies and transformers are centrally mounted. The power supply is massive, using two 12000uF low ESR electrolytics made by Nippon Chemicon, per channel - a total of 48000uF for both amps!
KA-9300 The power supply, appart from it's obvious dual mono configuration, deserves special merit. The roster of semiconductors becomes much more understandable once one considers that a single power supply has stored energy in two 18000uF capacitors at it's disposal, making the total a record breaking 72000uF in both power supplies (remember, this was designed in 1973!), something even most today's high-end amplifiers can only dream of. The preamp of course has separate power regulators. The power amp features DC and overcurrent protection (both electronically and via fuses
And to think my vintage Trio, which is in very good condition, demonstrates such a modest begining heritage that has evolved to such a beast. It would be like puting a P38 next to an F15 fully decked out.
