Kenwood KD-2070 missing Cartridge + Headshell $50

Local Facebook seller selling Kenwood KD-2070 turntable for $50... looks like it needs cleaning and isn’t in awesome shape. Link to post. Is this a good deal/worth it? I’m relatively new to vinyl but If I could score a sweet deal and tinker w restoring this that would be fun.
What questions should I ask? What should i look for upon inspection?

I already have AT-LP120USB to play records, so this is just a fun one.

You could do worse. Fifty bucks for a "project" isn't bad. I paid $65 for a similar altough semi-automatic Kenwood DD last year but it had it's headshell. Didn't need too much attention - tweaking the speed adjustment pots, a new needle for the cartridge and the obligatory clean-up. It got passed on to a friend's step daughter and was a better table than what she likely would have picked herself.

I have the benefit of multiple salvaged cartridges and headshells at my disposal so are a non-expense if either is needed. If, right off the bat, I had to add costs of those to the initial purchase, I'd have to be pretty sure the table being considered has no mechanical issues that need parts which may or may not be obtainable.

The ad specifies that it "plays well". If that is so, then the vendor must have a headshell/cartridge with which they have tested the turntable.

If it's something you plan to work on over time just for something to do, the costs incurred don't sting too bad.

This bears emphasizing. If it does play well, and he does have the ability to test, they should have no problem demoing it. If they aren't willing I would assume it has not been tested or it does not work, prossibly both.

And just so you know, posting a link here to a good deal you are thinking on is a good way to find it disappearing a bit quicker than it would have otherwise.
