Kenwood LSK-727

$200 is much too much, I would think. The tweeters are obviously cone tweets behind a horn-looking bit of trim, and I'm willing to bet that the trim around the woofer is just plastic trim. They look similar to the type of speakers you would have gotten with one of their all-in-one rack systems from the 1980's/1990's.

Hopefully I'm wrong on this, and they're really something of a sleeper.

I gave them a listen before buying, and they butt-kicked some Pioneer speakers, namely CS-989's and they were level with JBL's. I'm not speaking volume-wise, because we didn't compare, though we cranked the amp up and the Kenwoods didn't even mind. The sound was what I expected: very full and detailed. They had a strong yet very natural bass (I've been playing electric bass for almost 20 years now, so I'm very keen on the lows) and crisp yet sweet treble. Two of my favorites are Frank Zappa and King Crimson, so it was a joy to hear all the detail in Zappa's music and the order in chaos in KC's - and Tony Levin's Chapman Stick didn't lose any of its timber.

I believe there are worse ways to waste money. Now if only I could get an SX-*** series receiver - but for that please check my "equipment wanted" ad. :)

I found no info whatsoever anywhere on these speakers, so any input will be welcome.
