So..... the 507th "600" was born sometime in July, yet the 480th didn't arrive until just before Christmas?

What many of us forget is that many production date codes use a variation of the Julian date format. Whether that is meant to confuse customers, who knows.

For example, let's take Feb. 1, 2011.

03211
321
1032
11032
B111
B011

Fun to speculate though.

700 separates

Well looking at some of my components from the 700 separates, this formula seems to fall a bit short of accurate...Galant effort though

700t.....020233
700c.....110119
700m.....060210

Okay, since I started this thread, I guess I should play along with the serial # interest that seems to be forming. My 600 is serial # 520038. Which doesn't seem to be much in line with those posted above. I long assumed mine was the 38th built, but now I'm just confused.

So we have model 600 serial # from 33xxxx to 55xxxx. Anyone comprehending anything from this? My impression, gleaned from online sources, is there were approximately 1000 600s made (not sure if the 500s were included in this). So why the wide variance in serial #, when they easily could be accounted for as 33xxxx (or whatever)?

So far for the 600:

520038
330198
450238
550264
450480
430507
430606

If the last 4 are the sequence #, at least 606 made. No idea what the first two digits are. :scratch2:

Hi
I guess I'll be joining this group at the end of this week, that's when my 650 supreme
will be here.
I have been using a KR-9600 and really curious about the difference in sound?
Will post serial # when I get it.
Any opinions on the sound difference welcomed.

maybe the serial numbering scheme was related to markets?

For example - the US imported ones (with 110V trafo) - all might be in the 500XXX??
or ..for the European or elsewhere with a different voltage (100 or 220/230/240V) could be different?

If they have a multivoltage selector they could be different again??.

So...the exercise here could be to check out which ones that are European - Canadian- US (dedicated voltage) or are equipped with a multivoltage selector or not??

get the idea??

best regards
Freddy

IT is here,I got my 650 yesterday and it looks awsome, still playing with the different
settings to get it to the way I want it.
This thing weighs a ton.The serial #is 640090.
It makes my cornwalls sing like a lark on a spring morning.
What a piece of machinery.

First digit year, or year+2, or year-2, or some such? Second digit lot # for that year? Last four are sequence for that lot/year? If so, > 1000 built... :dunno:
