I remember those in the AAFES catalog. I'm not a big Kabuki fan but do have fond memories of how loud they can sound with a small amp, much like Klipsch. Not bad sounding, at least the ones I've listened to.
 
Now... if they were vintage Sansui or Pioneer, with more than three drivers per speaker, there are some people on here who would have to have a wank.

You are correct. If they have slats over the tweeters and they are Sansui or Pioneer, they are 'time-aligned drivers' or some such nonsense. If they say Kenwood and have the same slats, they're Kabuki garbage.

But we must all march to the beat of the cognoscenti woofers.

Not sure why there would be a correlation...could be somebody just wanted the biggest baddest looking rawk speakers but have never actually auditioned something like this.

Closest I had was a pair of Sansui Sp-x9900. The were absolutely terrible. I mean, just really bad. And cheaply made, too. Had a big 17" woofer to lure in those who think a giant woofer is all you need for bass. Not when its shoved into a cheap, too-small, shallow, particle board cabinet. Lots of shiny chrome plastic to get the KISS fans going (but not Keep It Simple, Stupid fans).
 
$1,500? Now THERE is a schmuck.

I don't want to hear "beauty is in the ear...", this is the King of Schmucks along with the King of Kabuki.
 
hard to believe anyone with any knowledge would pay that for those? Was thinking I might sell my OHM I's but with this as a example I would expect to get 2-3 grand:D Has the world of vintage audio gone off it axis :smoke:
