King of all Kabuki

Are they really called KL-10000Z?

Big name for a big speaker, I guess.

I get the feeling that the designers at Kenwood had a bet to see who could get away with designing the most ridiculous over the top speaker and actually have it made.

Another thing - since they are the size of a doghouse shouldn't they be mirror image?

I noticed the winning bidder has all of 2 feedbacks received. Wonder if this will hold up. However, the 2nd place bidder has plenty of feedback, so even a 2nd chance offer might hold up at that high of a price.

Maybe Pioneer but us Sansui fans have enough taste to own up to our Kabukiness. The Sansui Sp-x9900 flat out sucked. There's no debate to be had if somebody's actually heard them.
 
Might be a "collectible" factor at work here.

Yes, these were designed by Kenwood. Also, if you look closely at them and dig up some of their catalogs from the same time period, these are basically two of their smaller speakers stuck together.

51 bids and $1400 should tell us something though. Looks like 8 or 9 actual bidders.
If there were a pair near me at a low price I'd run.
 
So-called Kabuki (Sansui SP-series, Pioneer CS-series) often sell for more then non-Kabuki. And I perfectly understand the reason for this, and I share this vision.

What I don't really understand is why non-Kabuki sell cheaply, including many classics (KLH, AR, Advents, Dynaco). They sounds so good and sell for so cheap.

So what is the reason then. Because I've never heard a "Kabuki" that sounded even remotely passable as a decent loudspeaker. Closest was a Sansui SP-2000, I suppose.
 
When I first seen those speakers, I thought someone put two different speakers together. IMHO, Kabuki speakers are not that bad to my tired old ears and their rather fun to play around with. As long as one does not pay too much for them. Those just cost way too much.
 
Idk why I want those but I do, I think it's one of those things where you can't look away, but how many of you have actually seen these in person let alone heard them?
