KLH 6 Crossover Confusion

Glad you figured things out. When I recapped my Sixes, the 8uF cap was just floating in space, attached to its wires. One attached directly to the tweeter, as indicated on the schematic. Replacing this 8uF totally restored my tweeters. In fact, I have yet to install the two 2uFs, and I'm already totally satisfied with the sound of the speakers.

But I'd like to having a working tweeter boost circuit, so I'm going to go in and finish the job this weekend. It's very easy once you figure out you're replacing one two-in-one cap with two single caps twisted together. Once I figured that out, I knew it'd be a cakewalk. No soldering required, just wire nuts.

Congratulations in your Sixes. They are the sweetest speakers I've ever owned and I'm so happy I found them. Best $20 I ever spent.
 
Between the recap and the sealant, four months in I could not be happier with them. And between refinishing, recapping and resealing, they were a fun little project to boot!
 
Protect the tweeter and cut off its low end response to ~1500hz.
Yes, without the cap the tweeter would see DC through the response shelf bypass resistors. The 8uF cap is the only thing protecting it.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I recently salvaged a pair of Model 6 that were about to be thrown in a dumpster and came across this thread in my research. Here's a photo I took before removing one of the tweeters that wasn't working. You can clearly see the cap in the center of the image.

As it turned out, the tweeter was not fried but had a high resistance owing to heat stress on one of the hairfine wires leading to the coil. I was able to repair it by splicing and rejoining the wires and now have a fully functioning pair. Not bad for free + some fine soldering!
