KLH Six, are these capacitors already upgraded?

Never had any problems with Dayton caps.

Some folks like congested and edgy sounds.

Bennic XPP and Dayton caps are exactly the same, to be avoided.

I've been using Daytons for many years. Not one problem. Best bang for the buck I've seen.

Some of my favorites in no particular order. Hard to go wrong with any of them.

Jupiter copper/paper/wax
Clarity ESA
Jensen Superior Z
Mundorf Supreme Silver/Oil
Sonicap Gen I
Obbligato (NLA, but you might find NOS)
Clarity CMR

For very large values in a shunt circuit Solen is about the only choice. I do not recommend them in a high freqency circuit.

Just priced a 8 uf 100 v Jupiter copper blah blah. $410. For one. I'll stick to a Dayton at about 1% of that money. And I'll venture that the incremental hearable difference between them in a KLH Six is about the same.

That peanut brittle epoxy releases pretty clean if you start it with some taps and a putty knife.
It also softens with a heat gun but you want to tap ‘n crack off as much as you can.

That is part of the crossover. There’s a dual 2uf cap in there, two caps in one container. There’s also an 8 if cap mounted to the cabinet.

I wanted to come back here to update anyone that was interested. I did a full restoration of both.

• Full recap of both speakers (one was new, one was old and sealed, I can't remember if I shared that)
• I pushed the baffle out the front. Would not recommend.
• I resealed the cloth for each speaker using the eBay stuff. Absolutely vicious smell.
• I lasercut a new grille for the older speaker that had the cloth mounted directly
• I used the 16 count lambswool cloth from Crossstichworld
• I designed my own speaker stands modeled after the 5* base that KLH sells for the Fives. Welded them up with 1.5" tube and painted with enamel.

All in all, I'm really happy with them. Thank you for your help.
