Making some progress

Had some time to continue the veneer repairs. Pics show the top front and back corners. I'm pretty happy with the results so far. Hardest part is grain matching. I have old & new veneer left over from the LST project, and did some stain color testing on the new and got a pretty close match. Lot's of splicing!

Anyway, here's the pics.

Great work! looking forward to pics of the finished product. Probably my all time favorite speaker for medium to low volume near field listening.
 
Thanks gents! Progress is a bit slow, but they are looking better.
When the veneer work is done, it's the first application of oil that really brings the wood to life. My favorite part!

interesting,what distance do you use,i cant get mine to sound good at all using nearfield.

How would you describe the near field sound compared to a larger room?
I ask because I have not experienced a pronounced difference near field or in a larger room regarding the sonic quality.
 
A little more progress.

I used some "new" veneer for this bottom corner. The stain will match pretty closely when I get to that stage. These were exposed to some moisture as evidenced by the joint gap. Being this is the bottom, I'm thinking I'll fill the gap with JB wood weld.



Also some rear side edge repairs done.


 
:yes:Those last pieces along the edge are so SWEET! Given your pic this just proves you are not a stooge.

Amazing what can be accomplished with slivers of wood. Well maybe a tad large than slivers. Nice.

I try to remove as little as possible, but still have some surface area for glueing. I get a little crazy with these little slivers, I can't help it!
