Klipsch K8K replacements?

Hi! First post here.
I just picked up a beautiful pair of Klipsch KG4s, brought them home... and what would you know my receiver is broken. I was fiddling with it to try and figure out what was wrong, heard a loud pop, and when a friend of mine brought his Yamaha receiver over to test my speakers one of the drivers had no sound coming out. So I'm looking for a K-8-K replacement. I have seen threads where people suggest some clones, but haven't heard back about any experiences. So I'm wondering if anyone's ever used a non-OEM driver in a KG4, and if so, how did it sound? Or if anyone has a K-8-K lying around. Any advice?

Thanks!

K8k’s are hard to find. I needed one a year ago and luckily found an original on eBay. Have you looked? I have one, but the surround is cut off. Klipsch does not offer replacement rubber surrounds. I don’t know how they would sound with a typical foam surround. I would search eBay.

Found one on eBay, upon closer inspection it was actually a K-9-K and when I pointed this out the seller cancelled the order before shipping. But other than that none are up on the 'bay right now. Bummer.

On the other hand, I'd love to take that K-8-K off your hands! I found this which looks like it would work to reseal the driver! And I'd be so happy to have an original speaker in it. Does your K-8-K work well?

On the other hand, looks like that rubber reseal kit a heinously bad rating of 1 star on eBay (although that's also the only review so who knows). Still my best shot at an OEM speaker at this moment.

I just went and got the woofer. I bought the surround kit you are looking at! I have one right in front of me. If you are interested in the woofer, I’ll include the surround. All you have to do is install it. The only difference is that the originals have flat rubber surrounds and these are domed. That’s the only kit offered for the k8k

Mis described. I looked too! I have one, just needs the surround done. I even have the surround but the op hasn’t gotten back to me

Hey Marine,
Someone from the Klipsch forums actually just came through with a complete functional K8K from a KG4. I really appreciate your offering and would've gone for it if this other person hadn't come through! Best.
