Klipsch KG-5 Bookshelf Speakers

Just picked up some Klipsch KG5s from estate sale for $37. Thoughts? Pic below:

I've never heard them, but I once passed on a pair for $50 and have kicked myself many times over for it.

If I recall, there's a passive radiator on the back. Check that and the woofer surrounds. They're probably about to give up the ghost if they haven't already. Budget around $40 and a few hours to replace them.

Hmm, never seen these. The 5.2 is a larger version of the 4.2 floorstander with 10" woofer and PR. I guess the 5 is not the same thing at all.

I've never heard a pair of klipsch speakers I didn't like. I really want a pair of these as well!

In order to prevent any potential confusion here,everyone should note that they are Klipsch KG-.5 (ie: KG-1/2) and not KG-5.
That little dot before the 5 makes all the difference.

I was considering these a while back instead I wound up buying some KSB 1.1 as those were more moisture resistant (ABS cabinets,poly/rubber woofer,soft dome tweeter).

Anyhow I digress,congrats to the OP on a fine purchase.

I'm looking at a pair of KG-5's but can't find much info on them (not even on their website). Any thoughts? Reviews?

So you're looking for the floorstanding KG5/5.1/5.2, or the 0.5 bookshelf that were the subject of this thread?

Klipsch doesn't have much info on discontinued speakers anymore, I don't know why they did that. But there should be plenty on AK if you search, or other places. Someone has a pair of 5.2's for sale right now in Bartertown if you're looking for the big ones.

I just picked up a pair of the KG.5 today and they are nice -- they are not from the first run, as I use to own them. They changed the terminal plate in the back, where as the bigger plate from the earlier one never had a tight seal -- and the port was changed from paper to plastic. They sound better than the Synergy series, B series and the likes there of. They are articulate and punchy sounding with some good midrange and good central imaging. They are clean and clear, but lack some refinement of some more expensive speakers. Plus they were taken care of and are in excellent shape.

I pick up a pair of the .5 an cant complain sound wise. But not the nicest looking

I picked up four of these probably 10 years ago, never did anything with them. The surrounds are in good shape, the grills are in good shape, the boxes are not perfect, but still ok.
Just wasting away at the tp of my closet with some other things.
Serial numbers are sequential.
