latest full range folly - JVC SP-UX7000

after a couple of days, the drivers have really opened up, more sparkle up top, mids have filled out, bass is nice, i'm using them at my desktop, nearfield, don't really think i need a sub in the set up,
if in a room situation, i'd say probably so. i easily prefer these to the minimus 7's. soundstage and imaging vastly superior to the minimus 7's. and they look so much better to boot.
for $100(speakers and drivers) + $150 for the marantz 2216 , this set up is the best speaker setup i've had at the computer. i've had m-audio av30, audioengine a2, psb ps1,these are really good, and were my favorite.
JVC made a lot of great gear, and it's great to see another fan!
Good to hear these are sounding even better with the new drivers. I'd love to hear a pair of wood cones some day!

not too long ago, there was the jvc micro system that had the wood cone speakers, i almost bought it too

Hey Jaywillin, I have a couple of pairs of these, and I've thought about replacing the drivers in mine, too. Any possibility you would you be interested in parting ways with the original drivers out of your 7000's? One set of mine, though sounding nice, has some wrinkles in the drivers, like somebody did a bit too much fingering around on them.

sure, i'd part with the original drivers, i'm pretty sure i'll be leaving the tang bands in .

You could say I've become a bit obsessed with these little Speakers! They sound great for what they are. I want to figure out how to wire them up to run all at once. I have another pair on the way, and really want to find the wood cone version.

In all honesty, I wouldn't count on them all sounding great wired together. Too much comb filtering......

unless......

you were willing to put those drivers in a new enclosure, I'm thinking line array, with the drivers as close together as possible, and wired with resistors near the top and bottom to dial those down a bit.

Now THAT would be something, I'll just bet. Times like this, we could sure use Zilch, RIP.

I picked up Pioneer's knockoff version of these for cheap recently.

Paired with my Onkyo M504, Billy Cobham's "Spectrum" never sounded more fun.

If this is what life is like without a crossover, well, damn. I'm hooked.

I have a set of these (the round ones), they sound better than my minimus 7's

if your into tiny speakers I never heard so much good come out of such a little package as the 5.1's from Energy. Amazing little speakers and tiny.

These are shorter than my hand for reference. Big balanced sound out of a tiny speaker.

Grabbed a set of wood cones last week, JVC like op has.

Good God, these little guys are simply amazing!

The sound is clean music. You just enjoy what you're hearing.

Going to mate with my M&K Volkswoofer soon.
Hey man how have you been!? I know it’s been a while but it’s good to see that you are still out there enjoying the music! I too, had a pair of the woodcone versions. I think it was Jvc EX1 something or other. Great little speakers and they were just so small and the cabinet was so beautiful I really did not want to let them go

Hey bro, I been okay!! I need to come visit AK more often. So many people seem to miss the few posts a week I throw up. Thanks so much for asking about me, hope you're well.

I was wrong, my JVC's are the 7000's or some such. They are NOT the wood version, but sure sound amazing nonetheless.

Now I simply gotta hear those wood ones. There is a magic to full-range, and I have been enjoying the hell out of it lately, mated to my Topping TP-60 that I somehow fixed by reflowing the solder to the main chip. How I managed to NOT blow something up still amazes me.

Yes the ux7000s are great little speakers! I’ve had a pair of those on my desk at work for several years now and do the job very well. Not To mention they look great. Glad to hear you’re doing OK, one of these days I would love to meet up and shoot the **** for a while.

I don't get to Louisville any more than I must, lol, but if you're ever near Bowling Green, hit me up. We'll have a bite, talk shop.:beerchug:
