lenscleaner as vinyl cleaner

crucialchase

I have lens cleaner and wonder if it can double as vinyl cleaner. Its alcohol free and non abrbrasive to eyeglasses, camera lenses, and scopes. I have microfiber clothes and a record cleaning brush from mofi

My thinking is it should work. OTOH, Discwasher fluid is still available and cheap. It's a good idea to support companies that still make record cleaning supplies.

Wouldn't surprise me if this hasn't been tried. I bet all kinds of things been done. I'd try a LP that's not desirable 1st as a test.
One of my co-workers used Pledge on a group of LPs. But his TT and system is BOTL stuff so probably being cheap as he is, the Pledge was probably handy at the time.

Ouch

Sorry..but the pledge is a no no...the whole idea is to remove debris and gunk from the grooves...pledge just filled them with dirt catching wax which in turn is being transferred to his stylus..

Lens cleaner would be fine but I have found an ultimate mix that is so easy...

1 part 90% alcohol (from home depot in a can)
5 parts distilled water
very small amount (maybe the size of a dime) dishwashing liquid (dawn)

Use a spray bottle, mix it up...spray on records and wipe around the grooves clockwise and counter clockwise with a stiff paint brush..dry with lint free cloth..

Not only does it clean, but the alcohol helps it dry quick

I use it on my record cleaning machine...albums come out incredible
