There is a local thrift store that dumps the good vintage speakers and puts the trashy Technics and Fisher types on the floor. Made a few bucks by driving down that alley now and then.

I am reminded of the old joke where the wife comes in and tells her husband, "Honey, I was down in the dumps today so I got a new hat!"

He looks up from his newspaper and says "So that's where you get them".

It is amazing what people throw away.

Proof once again that "One man's trash is anothers treasure".

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I have no pride- I will look and jump in if necessary! Never have found what some of you have (envy, jealousy, anger... the list goes on) _:thmbsp:_

You'd get arrested in a heart beat here Or shot at. But I seriously doubt you would find a damn thing around here

You will also be arrested for removing anything from the recycling center/transfer station. They have security people watching you. You would have to catch it before it left the other guys truck.

To many people here are from somewhere else they have the big sale before they move here.

Hey Mark, it is the same here in Montana. It is actually an arrestable crime taking from the dump or people's trash. I see you are in Silverton. Man I used to :smoke: and go check out Silver Falls. Just beautiful in that neck of the woods. Where do you mostly go for gear- Portland or Salem?

I have found Cerwin Vega AT-12, they needed refoaming and I did it. I ended up selling them for $200.

Also very old H.H. Scott speakers with 15" woofers.

Never had the luck to find an amp or receiver.

Jay, dumpster diving!

yeah there is a few spots like that down here too. they only put out stuff if it has a cd player in it or its black plastic bpc lol, they consider anything with a wood case or a silver face old junk and too dangerous to sell, great huh!!

It's good to have friends that work for the city... One friend of mine walks the streets of his home town as a meter reader every day. Needless to say we have plenty of everything (and I mean everything under the sun from A to Z)...

and still to this day, i still continue to find cool stuff.

When are you going to post about it? Since BPC all in ones are crap, you must be keeping the stories of the good stuff to yourself. :scratch2: Though cockroaches are cool when someone else finds them.

well i have not found anything really amazing lately, but i also havent had time to go trashing much in the last few months, but im shure ill find something cool again soon, the fall/winter months are always better..

My First Find

Was dropping off/recycling an old Mitz TV this week at the dump and rescued this hefty gem from the evil jaws of the classic component crusher.

First good sign was that everything powered and lit up just fine. But packing 125W...on first volume twist to 40% it appeared to have output issues. Didn't have time to really tinker and TS...but me thinks some new caps, yada yada and maybe she'll be good to go. With spare time later that evening I plugged up a source and started fiddling with the pots and switches. Turns out it was just a sticky tape switch muting the audio. ---She's now fully functional....

A little D5 and lube and this rig now has a very warm & happy home.
