Because his threads were always ridiculous. They were funny because of the stupid stuff he did, even though he didn't mean them to be.I just like seeing them again.Do you ever look at old pictures?

Stereo Rob creator of the Shock and Awe stereo. coming to a trailer park near you!

Man, you guys are lucky to find anything at all. Around here people (seemingly anyway) never throw away their stuff they sell it and want too much. You'll see people selling Fisher and Sony rack systems from the 80's asking for $100. Like a fool I saw someone selling an old silver Sansui - I forgot what the model was but it was a nice one for $20 - nothing wrong with it. I didn't need it at the time and just ignored it but I thought about it more and thought - why not for $20? But it's gone now...my local thrift stores never have ANYTHING. It's all the cheapest crap on the planet and never anything good.

I assume you mean CL did away with people throwing stuff out.I would generally agree with that, just like eBay killed off many local flea markets. You really can't blame people though, considering what the economy and job situation is these days. The same goes for people donating good stuff to thrift stores.

I was driving in the back of some stores about 15 years ago looking for big cardboard boxes and saw a 3 level display rack sitting next to the garbage. Really nice! Picked it up, repainted it black, and it's been my garage shoe rack in the garage ever since! Perfect. I really do like that rack!

About 6 months ago I was driving by a house and saw a wooden file cabinet, 2 drawyers, out for garbage pickup in perfect shape. Just like if you bought it in the store, not a mark on it, just mint perfect. Took me about 5 'nano seconds' to pull over and pick that up! It's in the den now. It's beautiful and as luck would have it, it matches all my other den furnature perfectly in stain color and style! Got really lucky on that one.

I was driving by another house and saw a very large picture frame, with glass and backboard and everything, just sitting by the curb for trash pickup, and couldn't resist, picked that up. Got it home, kept it in the garage, never needed it, So I set it out by my trash. Went in the house. Took a look outside about an hour later...it was 'gone'! Someone got a nice picture frame for free!! :)

I was in Singapore walking down the street, out in the rural area, and found a beautiful, Very Old, Chinese chandler sitting by someones garbage. Now that was hard to carry, and I was drunk!! haha. It was really a nice chandler! It had to be 70 years old, or older, and none of the 'bulbs' or glass was broken. Ended up giving it to a local Singaporian friend who Really Liked It. Just no way to get it back to the states in one piece.

It is amazing what people throw out. A bit off topic from audio, but I have a store I like to check a couple times a week for returned, damaged package, etc. items they toss. It's yielded truckloads of lumber, pallets, foam blocks (which I use for insulation), bagged goods from potting soil to horse feed, fixable or even brand new equipment, and scrap metal. Just amazing. If I didn't have a job I'd think about starting a collection and recycling business for this stuff.

A friend of mine down in Houston back in '74 did just that and he did quite well hauling away the 'wealthy oil peoples' garbage, Even complete brand new set up rooms!! TONS more money than sense. All they wanted was for it to be out of the house. "Just get it out-of-here", like that. What they threw away was simply AMAZING. Now I'm much older, and what they just threw away as garbage was simply AMAZING. Brand new stuff, giant wood carved framed mirrors so big it wouldn't even fit in a normal persons home, but it wasn't exactly the right shade of wood or it didn't match the painting on the wall. It was just crazy. ' They ' don't live in the same world as I, or maybe we, do.

One lady gutted her multi-million dollar living room 2 times. On the 3rd try, well it didn't work out eather, and we won't get into what happen after that. Too much pressure. You know, the living room and the interior decorator designers, and everything. It can be intense, you know, a lot of pressure too much pressure I guess...to the point of I can't take it anymore, you know, the way the living room was designed and set up. It ended up real bad. Guess it was just too much for a normal human to handle. I guess.

Yeah...he had a pretty good business picking up rich oil folk's garbage, brand new carpeting and all. I was simply amazed at the carpeting. Seemed like a football field of brand new carpeting. He asked me if I wanted any for free. haha. Yeah, for what? I'm broke!! I don't have a house, I'm renting an apartment. LOL. He had a really 'big long flat bed truck with those fence type sides' to pick it all up. He did good, REAL GOOD really. Even opened up his own store. I just remember the carpeting, tons and tons of carpeting, the furnature in general, and that gigantic hand carved frame wood mirror. It was big. It was REALLY nice. Rolling Stones stuff. Garbage.

But the rich folks trusted him, word of mouth, and he was "IN"... 100% trustworthy with references from their friends to take away their garbage.

Life goes on.

Rock on. :)

It's fine if they don't want that stuff, the problem is that people have no desire to spend any effort making sure it benefits someone else or stays out of the landfill. Or they would like to but have no imagination as to how to do it. That part is hard to change.

From my very limited experience...all they want is for it to be: "get this out of my house, NOW!" They could care less. They live in a different world than the rest of us. Just the way it is. That's life. Nuff said.

"Mixed Emotions".

Happy to say I've encountered neither in a dumpster. I did rescue a generator covered with fried rice once, but it was worth it. :D

Come on Dave, bumping a thread just so you can make fun of the OP (again) when you know he was banned and cant stick up for himself is beneath you.
