Lets see all them Amplifiers!

My latest acquisition. It's a Univox, forgot the model number. 6X4, 6AQ5 (SE), 6AV6, 12AX7 tremolo and and nice Jensen 12" speaker, pretty unusual in such a low power amp. It looks like hell, and I had to replace every capacitor and about 75% of the resistors. It may well be my best sounding amp.

I don’t think that it was malicious, just sharing. It’s some really nice stuff, just takes a long time to load.

It has a clean wide response . It has a pretty full rich tone too. Right now it still has the JJ 6L6GC's in it. So far I really like the JJ's. I almost bought EH's just because I've seen several videos with them in this amp. But I'm still waiting for my son to have time to drive down and really put it through it's paces. I also have a set of Russian 6P3S-E's to try when he get here along with a set of JJ EL-34's. I have some old stock 6V6's also, but they're very weak. He really likes the Russian 6P3S-E's in his RedBear MKE-120. So we'll see how they do in this amp.
I'll let you know how it all shakes out when he can get down here to use it.
He's very busy working in IT for a county school district that also covers parts of poorer neighboring counties. Plus he and his wife have a new baby son that's keeping them busy.

View attachment 2799732 Wow, been a long time since I posted here, turned my place into a hoarder house in the mean time. I didn't know where else to post this. I'm trying to ID what looks like a mini amp from the 30s. I missed it by minutes in an auction. What is this thing, is it an old guitar amplifier? I want to know what I missed. I have two Fender amps btw, one from the early 60s, can't remember if a posted a pic of that, I'll check.

I just saw this guy,,, guitar/harp maybe?? looks like an old home brew, but its stamped Radco... I looked em up and just found Radco truck accessories... Looks like it was used hard,,, hope the player is still with us!!! I'd take that in a second,,, but it would get an isolation Tx first thing!!! Didn't Alamo make some hot chassis amps also??

Very nice,,, did iit come with teh red tube shields?? I like em!
No the kit is pretty basic. I had to add the tube shields and spring caps for the power tubes. Tubesandmore has the shields in silver, blue, gold, red and I think maybe black. I liked the red ones too. I also added bias test jacks.

I don't know if Alimo made hot chassis or not. That home brew is scary with a hot chassis just hanging out there like that. I hope the owner plugged that jack in before turning it on!

I may be wrong,,,, I thought Uncle Doug rebuild one on his show??
That may not be home brew?? Radco sounds like it could be an 30-40s radio co, that went a step to far!!

I agree. I would still be temped to use that chassis with an isolation transformer though.
