There's been a 1010 NIB listed on fleabay in Canada for a long time now. If I had the extra grand I'd buy it!

Hi Glenn. So have you used a 1010 before? If so, how did it compare with your A-X9?

The 1010 has a bass boost control yes, which helps when listening to music at low volumes. IMHO I don't think it needs a treble adjustment as it sounds so good already. I also find the bass boost helps with my small bookshelf speakers.

Ahh, I had it backwards! I watched a YouTube video demonstrating a 1010, and remember it only having one tone control.

I haven't heard a 1010 in person, only on YouTube, which is almost never a great way to hear anything audio.

My friends father is a big JVC guy. He brought a system back with him when he got out of the service in the 70's but I can't recall the model numbers but do recall it sounds excellent. I think JVC is under appreciated in large part because it just didn't get the exposure but once you look into it you find the gear is top notch.
That A-X9 amp is beautiful BTW, like a classier Sony ES. I've never seen one in the wild but I'd be building a system around it if I were to pick one up.

Thanks, it is a great looking piece. They are fairly rare, and if you find one, grab it, even if it needs repairs. Well worth it. It sounds stunning. If you get a chance, go to hifiengine and look up the specs on thei amp. Unbelievable low distortion numbers.
 
Hello pulled my JVC RX 707 that I bought brand new out after my vintage sanui 7000 lost a channel.:( I had sold this to a friend for 50 dollars and then bought it back. Never touched any of the buttons and used the remote only so they look brand new. Have it paired with a technics 1210 m5g turntable and Jvc xl-152 CD players do restored advent 1 speakers. Sounds great. There was an ax-z1010 in my area last year for 250. I kept looking at it. Not sure why I didn't buy it since I wanted one really bad. A guy on eekbay has brand new ones for 1400. They were 800 last year. Maybe someday.

Produce alot of bass but don't move
Very tight , stable and clear
Love a second set

The horn and midrange balances nicely
With the woofer
Of course diven by a jvc quad amp
Got 8 jvc speakers going a once
