LFD owners thread

Which one are you considering, Kray?

Hey Steven! Funny I just bought it from Gene Rubin... a LE MK4 Signature

I had one years ago and remember it being so close to tubes for me.... but I changed everything up. Now that I was looking for a simple integrated to not be a space heater in the summer I decided to give it a go again.

Reviving this old thread because I just bought an old LFD Zero Mk. 3 and am blown away by it. I am quite curious about upgrading, but information about the more recent models is sparse and confusing. Sam Tellig loved the Mk. 3 but was disappointed by the first NCSE. He liked the NCSE Mk. II but seemed to like the cheaper LE V more ... Meanwhile there's strangely little in terms of reviews for the NCSE Mk. III and beyond, including the latest HR and HR II models.

Is there anybody out there who has heard and compared these various later models? I absolutely love the magic of this Mk. 3 and agree with Tellig's review entirely, but the prospect of even more dynamics and detail also sounds wonderful -- although part of me wonders whether it's possible and whether it would somehow contravene the laws of nature ... any thoughts much appreciated ...

Wow, only 7 years since I had the amps mentioned in this thread and I’ve been through a whole bunch since then.

LFD doesn’t get a whole lot of press anymore. The folks who really loved them aren’t writing anymore or aren’t alive. I think Gene Rubin still has a working knowledge of their products. He’s the go to for information about LFD.
