Linn Akito Vs. Basik Plus

Hi

Being a newbie to Linn products, what's the difference between the Akito and Basik Plus tonearms ?

Is it just a re-badge or are there technical differences ?

I believe the Akito was the follow-on to the Basik Plus. That's what I gather from my reading at least. I am waiting for a table with the Basik Plus installed. I would be interested in a knowledgeable response also.

Hi Guys,

The Linn Basik (LVX) evolved to a Basic Plus which was the same tonearm but with a fixed headshell and therefor a little less mass (around 10gr.) The Basic Plus then evolved to an Akito which was again basically the same tonearm but with improved bearings. I believe they were all made in Japan for Linn. I'm using an original LVX from 1984 - still working like new.

Then, there is the Akito 2b which has improved bearings and was made in the UK by Linn. Alot of Linn fans think that Akito 2b is as good or better then the Ittok. I love mine. :yes:
