Linn Basik

I am in discussions with a gentleman about a Linn Basik turntable with an Akito tonearm, running a Linn K9 cartridge. He says the cartridge has minimal hours. He's asking $400.

That a good deal?

There are definitely much more knowledgeable people here that can answer your question much better than I but if it is working properly and set up correctly that is a good price. I recently picked up an LP12 with a Linn Basik Plus tonearm and Grado Gold 1 cartridge. I really like it. I have done searches regarding tone arms and cartridges. Many have said the cartridge might be the first thing to look into. I have a DynaVector DV-20X I am gong to try first. I think the Akito is supposed to be better than the one I have but I would look for an Ittok for mine if I were going to upgrade first. As I said I am hardly knowledgeable like others here. Hopefully someone will get back to you. There is also a Linn forum here that you might want to research if you haven't already.
If that Linn were here with that price I would really be all over it! I think that is a good price but get some info from others regarding what to look for and make sure it works plays etc.

The early Akitos, found on that model TT, tend to go out of spec over time (bearing issues). Audio Origami does a great job with Akitos, though that adds $. I recommend you invest a couple of hours at Linn's LP12 owner forum (includes advice on Linn arms) Good luck.
