List of capacitor coupled solid state receivers and integrated amplifiers

Found it the English brand was Dynatron it shows a Coat of Arms and is endorsed by the Queen of England.

Dynatron SRX 26

Nice sounding receiver and the FM section kicks butt pulls in FM stations 75 miles away with full quieting, Impressive.

The latest list of capacitor coupled integrated amplifiers and receivers (dated 04/08/2023) is now attached to this message, the first message in a long thread.

Due to my own interest, sparked by the discussion on this site, I’ve assembled a list of capacitor coupled integrated amplifiers and receivers, using information from various sources. Some of this is from just trusting what shows up in Internet searches, but some is from attempts to look at schematics and nudies.

The list is limited the list to two-channel, solid state, and pre-1974 (when nearly all cap coupled equipment was built) receivers and integrated amplifiers. This means that it excludes quadrophonic receivers, tube amps, modern gear, and power amps. The watt per channel rating for each device is listed in parentheses.

I’m far from being an expert, so the list likely has lots of errors, and I know that it has many omissions. I hope to make it more correct and complete. If you have additions, deletions, or corrections to this list, please post them here. Thank you!

I have owned several of the units listed above since the 1960's including the Harman 300B, Kenwood KA-4002, Marantz 2220 and the Pioneer SX-770. of these four receivers the Kenwood IMO was the best sounding unit. It also was not only packed with features it had main/pre jumpers. While only rated at 18 WPC it played like it was a 40-50 WPC and could handle 4 ohm speakers. Very lush, detailed sound surprising separation and soundstage. Highly recommended.

It's been awhile since the list has been updated, because units that aren't included are getting harder and harder to find. Which is a good thing, because it means that the list may now be nearly complete. However, based on feedback from this thread, I added six more receivers, bringing the totals to 291 receivers and 122 integrated amplifiers. I also made a few small corrections.

I'll update the list again if new information is found, so please continue to add comments to this thread. Thanks!

i see that you have the pioneer sx-300t but not the sx-300/sound project 300.

they are completely different so.....

sx300/sound project 300 are 7wpc@8ohm.

here is my sound project 300. repaired and fresh bulbs waiting resto.

Too bad this list omits power amplifiers.

So it will always be incomplete.
how so? this is a list of receivers and integrated amps. not having amplifiers listed does not mean it is incomplete as they are not included in the name of the list. :dunno:

Thanks!!! This is great.
Adding - Pioneer SX-1000TA a.k.a. Allied 399 should have asterisk next to it too - it has tube tuner

Based on the feedback in the posts directly above, I added four more receivers, bringing the totals to 295 receivers and 122 integrated amplifiers. I also made a few small corrections.

I'll eventually update the list again if new information is found, so please continue to add comments to this thread. Thank you.

I know this is a power amp, but the QSC USA series is a very unique, cap coupled isolated ground circuit. The 1310 being the top model. There is also a 900 & 400.

One other benefit to the QSC design is that the output transistors don't need insulators. Since the collectors are ground, instead of the voltage supply like most amps. Can't beat that for cooling, plus there are 16 TO3 outputs per channel!
