List of DACs Under $450

Since I won't be using USB it won't make a difference for me.
Thank you Netdewt.

I looked a little closer. Here are a few other things it looks like the DAC2 has that the DAC1 doesn't. This is just from looking at the website. I don't know anything about these units other than that:

88,000uF of filtering with W4S low ESR "super-cap" (same as used in the STP-SE)
VFD display for input, sample rate, volume control, and configuration viewing
Remote control with features such as balance control and phase inversion
Defeatable - 32 bit volume control
HT Bypass inputs (selectable via DC trigger)
1x AES/EBU input
1x Balanced I2S input via HDMI cable (not standard HDMI cable format)
24-bit 192kHz Asynchronous USB input
Proprietary drivers for 32/64 bit Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Mac OS 10.4, 10.5 ,10.6

You'd have to be really good or delusional to be able to tell the difference between 96 and 192, IMO. They are both Asynchronous. I bet the DAC1 USB input is fantastic.

Thanks, added the Citypulse. The Musiland is not a DAC, so it can't go in the spreadsheet, and I can no longer edit the first post in this thread without wiping most of the information there out. They added some sort of a character cap for posts.

Maverick Audio has a new one...

The TubeMagic D2. Lots of improvements over the D1.
Disclaimer: I own a D2, and love it. Extremely nice unit, at an amazing price ($279 del'd all the way from the source).

Here it is, operating alongside my SBT:

Is there something new on the DAC/headphone amp recently? Something for around 200USD... But all I see new are super expensive DACs...

Musiland Monitor 02 US Dragon. 32bit 384KHz.
Can be had for $110 + shipping from HK eBay.

There sure is. I've been eyeballing this one for a while USB 3.0 and up to 32bit/384khz, and all for $154.99 delivered from China. Don't be fooled by it's low price. I've read really good reviews of Musiland gear. I'm sure this one will be quite the performer and perfect for those on a budget.
