I can have a love affair with my music if I want to .Priceless art? A record cover?
Real living thing? Smell and hold the record? Feel absorb and embrace it? Are you talking about records or lovers?

As an aside; this current trend of referring to Show Business performers and acts as "artists" rather than...well, performers and acts, is just so typically and pompously Baby Boomer---I don't think Dan Dailey, Ethel Merman and Mitzi Gaynor were referred to as "the artist".
I feel better now.
There is ZERO need for a computer. A cell phone (a small computer TBH) with Spotify on it and a 3.5mm to RCA cord is all you need. Plug it in to any open input and you are rolling. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Far faster than any other medium.
The critical thing is - Support the artists, enjoy their music - however you get it.
(Tho hopefully not stealing via bit Torrent!)
The original image was a humble photo. This one is unprofessional and ugly.Art ? Why not ?

Well, art is in the eye of the beholder after all.The original image was a humble photo. This one is unprofessional and ugly.
Mayhaps. I have an LG G7 phone which employs a ESS 32bit quad (4 paralleled) ES9218P DAC. It sounds pretty good to me. One of the better DACs in a phone back in 2018.one of the big arguments for vinyl and CD is that they sound better than downloaded sources. Running off the phone's DAC is not going to help things. A self powered DAC through the phone's usb port is better.
How many millions of songs do you have in your boxes?
Seriously, you can do what you want, but please don't think that any physical collection can compare with streaming.
First of all, let me clarify that this moron likes streaming . I will admit that streaming has opened my eyes to new artists. But having a million songs to choose from doesn't give me warm and fuzzies if the streamer controls the songs I like and deletes 50% of the files from my playlists without warning. So in addition to streaming I buy CD's of the artists I like. I then download to my hard drive and put the CDs away for safe keeping. I'm quite happy with my CD collection and, shy of a disaster, I don't have to worry about the songs I enjoy disappearing.I was referring to the amount of titles available from Spotify etc. In that regard, nothing compares. I agree that it does not matter how one gets their music......but some of the attacks on streaming are moronic.
In the past two weeks I've sold TWO $300 records
Most of the time that is due to them “timing out” and normally an “update” of the playlist will restore them. At least that has been my experience over the last 5 yrs of a lot of use. I am (well was until this yr) on the road for work half the year so my streaming services, HP Amp/DAC and HPs are my primary source half the time… hotel livingdeletes 50% of the files from my playlists without warning.
Absolutely true, and some here have quite the investment in LPs and CD's.At some point the $$ are so ridiculous, you almost have to cash out.
You can buy them back at a fraction the cost in a couple years if you miss them.
I think current pricing is not sustainable.

Unfortunately that was not the case with mine as I update regularly. Most of the time that is due to them “timing out” and normally an “update” of the playlist will restore them. Glad I haven’t had that issue yet. My streaming service library has over 7000 albums and growing, including everything I own on vinyls and a few CDs. Needed to have them while on the roadUnfortunately not the case with mine as I update regularly.![]()
I didn't read it but you leave me thinking it was providing fuel to those two artists by enlarging their importance. Streaming is my very last choice for a variety of reasons including sound quality, which means the totality of the listening experience. Artists leaving, etc., beyond note, is just making something out of nothing, especially recently. Now if they would do it on the basis of sound quality, something about the media itself, that might have an affect that might change something to the better. So they pull two artists and now you “can’t reply on music streaming”? That article seems like a waste of time.
Maybe dropping stuff is a Spotify thing. I only used it a few weeks when I first started around 5 yrs ago. Haven’t noticed it with Tidal, Qobuz and now AMHD.I spend about 50+ hours a week on the road, so streaming is very important to me. I have SiriusXM and also stream Spotify from my phone. It sure make the time on the road go by faster!
It’s only a big deal to a handful of super fans and haters of Joe Rogan. I stream but not for critical listening although I’ve heard streaming sound VERY good. It’s all about records for me.I didn't read it but you leave me thinking it was providing fuel to those two artists by enlarging their importance.
