Listening to music in the dark?

Give a listen to Songs Of The Humpback Whale in surround with the lights out. The experience is quite interesting. :)
I remember as a kid playing a little flexi-disk that came with a National Geographic magazine. The whale sounds were interesting but what I really got a kick out of was the guy narrating the thing and his comically somber delivery... "these are the sounds of the humpback whhhhhale." I always thought that if I ever made electronic music, that I'd have to find a copy of this and sample that guy saying that...

"The eyes are hungry, they eat brain energy. When you close your eyes your brain opens to your ears; sound rushes in to fill the sphere of the skull" (Mathieu, 1991)
Glad that this historical thread was cracked back open again. Yes, I love to listen to music in a darkened room, seems to dramatically enhance the listening experience (at least for me).

I don't listen in the dark but I do turn off the main lights and I have a desk lamp with a reproduction antique bulb that gives off a warm almost amber glow,it's on a shelf above my gear.
