I just want to say in advance... Thank you all. I have been collecting vinyl and vintage equipment for about 5 years. This website has been absolutely instrumental in my hobby. I don’t really have a good reason for not signing up sooner. I think maybe I did not feel I was worthy of joining in on the conversation or posting my 2 cents yet. With that said I know I am no where near as knowledgeable as so many of you on here, and again thanks for contributing and helping me to where I am today.
My experience thus far has only been with solid state amplifiers, turntables, speakers, a few reel to reels, and 1 cassette deck, in I guess what would be considered the mid-fi category (except the reel to reel, that’s a hi-fi one).
I am a thrifter through and through. All of my items over the years have been found at a thrift store, used website like Craigslist or kijiji, garage sales, estate auctions or traded for with something I found through one of these means. I have never bought something at its average “online price” on eBay, hifishark or canuckaudiomart. I am not knocking people that have by any means, it’s purely financial circumstances for me and my taste has always seemed to exceeded my pocket book. If I had the money I would gladly purchase items by those means and my collection would be even more extensive. I have, debatably, just lucked out (with some hard work and determination) on all of my items. Those items include:
