Looking at buying Amp + Bookshelf speakers + Sub woofer

Hi, a friend has convinced me to invest in a proper music system. I just have a basic JBL wireless since 2017. I bought the Ruark R2 MK3 and returned it after a day as I just wasn't happy as it couldn't play music off a USB drive and couldn't read the CD either.

Perhaps I'd be better off buying a separate amplifier, separate speakers and separate subwoofers...what do you think? My budget is GBP 1000/-

I live in the UK and researched the subwoofer and speakers - Wharfdale looks good
For the amplifier, given my needs, the Marantz Pm5005 may be the one I'm looking for.

I realise my options are limited for buying products not made in china. Thankful for any advice : )

I don't really keep up on new audio equipment, so I can't really make a specific recommendation (although I think your choice of Wharfedale is a good one; it's tough to go wrong with them).

However, before you start shopping, consider what you like and don't like about your wireless speaker(s). Not just the features, but how it sounds, if it goes loud enough for you, and what you'd like to improve. Also what sort of room are you planning on using it in? The size, floor and wall makeup and coverings, and furniture can all affect the sound.

Thank you. I am looking to fit this into a 30 ft x 15 ft room. Would have preferred an integrated set like Ruark or Revo but they have drawbacks that I can't compromise on.
