Looking at picking up Fisher X-202-B or X-100-B

I am new to AK and wanting to upgrade my system. I have an opportunity to grab either a Fisher X-202-B or an X-100-B. I know the 202 is much nicer, but the price seems way too high ($1100!). The X-100-B is much more reasonably priced and has enough power for my speakers. Anyone have thoughts on these units? $1100 seems way to high for a unit that isn't even in the cleanest of conditions.

Unless restored already, these units will need work.

I have a X-100B (actually the KX-100 kit version of the X-100B) and it's a nice unit. I did the restoration work myself. Unrestored, but in great condition, mine cost well under half of what you're being offered the X-202-B for.

Even after restoration, not everything is perfect - such as a volume imbalance between channels due to the volume pot being old. No new exact replacements are available.

If you want a Fisher amp, I've got a working 500C receiver that was recapped by someone else (I replaced another cap and added a bias adjustment pot).

The faceplate has all of the lettering, brass caps, etc. and looks great. There are some minor issues (turner should be probably be re-aligned; the tuning function works OK but the string and indicator don't always correspond precisely to the frequency, etc.) Rest of chassis is average, with some corrosion & discoloration.

It came with EH5791s. All of the tubes (including Nuvistors) have been checked and bad or weak ones replaced. The amp works great.

I was going to go "all of the way" with restoration, but I've gone back to college at my tender age of 60, and simply don't have time. $550 if you want it.

I may put it on Barter Town, time permitting to take pics and write a complete description.

Sent you a PM about this.
