Looking for advice on transitioning to my new setup using Heathkit W-5Ms.

I feel like they’re the most transparent and natural amps I’ve ever owned. I had a scott lk-72 that I loved but against the w5ms it definitely sounded a bit darker.

According to him the mc30s color the sound more while the w5ms are more neutral.

Do you have a preference for 12au7’s in this? I’m not in the know about AU7’s as they aren’ta primary coloring valve in any of my amps.

Mine came with gold lion and i’m happy with them. I use vintage tungsram in my preamp.

Ah yes… gold lion! I would think AU7’s do mellow this amp out compared to the common AX7.
