Looking for some Information on Boston Acoustics A70s

That wouldn't give me the highest quality sound though would it?
 
I run some Boston A60 (same drivers, smaller cabinet) from a Pioneer SX-750. Really sweet full sound. The SX-_50 and SX-_80 series of Pioneer receivers seem to pair well with Boston Acoustics.
 
Well,

I got my speakers today. I was told that there were no performance issues but that was wrong. I hear a rattle in one woofer at certain frequency hits. I am assuming it was from the refoam job because there are no other obvious flaws. I am going to have to refoam that woofer but I should probably do both right? Also where can I get correct spec foam surrounds? Im not sure if these are the right ones.

Is there a good way to remove glue?

usually a bad surround job causes static or distortion, not a rattle. Might want to see if they left some tools in the cabinet :sigh:
 
gently push the offending woofer cone in and out, carefully and as evenly as possible, and see if you can feel a rub. Make sure the power is off. If not you may have to peel the dust cap away and take a look to see if the VC is centered. I will send you directions via PM if needed. I also have a good source for all refoaming needs.

I am pretty sure I feel and hear some rubbing. There is also a creaking like noise on the offending woofer and not the other.


EDIT: Well just for fun I pulled the woofer from the cabinet. There happened to be a wire bent toward the back of the woofer. Bent the wire back toward the cabinet and we are good to go. When the woofer rebounded it was hitting the wire. Real happy with the sound of these lovin' it!!

Don't be so quick to dismiss that Yamaha. My A70's were in my living room connected to my Onkyo sr606 AVR and they sounded fantastic. Running the room correction software really helps (I'm assuming your Yamaha has it). I just moved the a70's to my bedroom and connected them to a sweet Sansui 5500 and put a pair of A150's in their place in the living room. Sweet music in both rooms now!

Sounds great with the yamaha BTW.
