Used on old Sony ES equipment like tuners & Turntables

Those look very familiar. Are they unique to Sony or is that some kind of standard connector you can find at electronics suppliers?

That's an excellent question. I've never seen them elsewhere, but it's not impossible that Sony used an existing jack/connector system. Would have made more sense than inventing their own, only reason I think they could have done it themselves is that those things were only provided on TOTL or close to TOTL "statement piece" components initially, although they did eventually go into other stuff like the PS-LX520 linear TT for example:

where the jacks look pretty generic to me. But, Sony and the other Japanese electronics companies were not shy about throwing tooling and design money at their TOTL stuff back then, so it could have been their own design.

I ran into them as part of the DST/whole house ES system, but they did also use them to connect other components to their TOTL preamps for a few years or so.
