Looking for tube amp repair in northern VA

My amp‘s regulator has gone bad. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tech in the Fairfax, Alexandria, Springfield area or thereabouts? Thanks.

There's a place on Port Royal Road right off Braddock that does tube amp work. Never used them. The guy I was using passed away, he worked at Vu's in Tysons. Might give them a call.

The name of that place was Music Technology, however they closed the doors in late 2023. I used them in the past and was pleased. If you do a google search, Soundwaves Vintage Audio repair comes up in Centerville, Va. The point of contact (Corey) was the solid state guy at Music Technology. Unsure if he works on tube gear, however he might know of someone in the area that can assist. Good luck.

Music Technology was the first place I thought of since I had used them 20 years ago. Was sad to hear I just missed them. Deja Vu does repairs and they are kind of near me. Might give Vu a call although I’m going to be embarrassed since I had an amp built for me instead of getting it from him lol.

Thanks for the leads here and in PMs!

i check out placing an add into craight list for a tube amp tech call meet look at test equipment describe whats going on maybe even bring the amp. never leave amp without paper work with 1. estimate after testing he will call you with price. 2. talk about how much time to finish. 3. weather the original circuit shall be changed or not. good luck i found one just 10 miles from my house and did me right.

Bruce is in Arlington, old friend of mine. I'm glad isaac7 had a good experience. He makes really amazing custom equipment, but he's also great with repairs.

Nice, love Arlington, was born there and I go to Westover at least once a month to Ayers and The Italian Store, would be cool to me him and talk shop! Also love Falls Church, lived there in my first house and I go there to CD Cellar, the State, and Super Chicken, yum!

Randy, who is this?
Randy,

I am in the Northern Virginia area as well - I think the question here is where are you located along with a contact email in case we have any tube gear that we would like repaired/updated.

Thanks in advance

Jeff

Hi Jeff, I am in Fairfax, across from GMU. I thought this may be Tim or someone I knew from Music Tech. Loved working there with the gang, and learned a lot from Bill, so soryy to hear of his passing. My email is rwarre10@ gmu.edu. The webpage that Bruce has is quite interesting, and he lives in one of my fav areas in DC metro.

Randy,
‘Thanks for the response - I‘ll contact you via the email that you provided as I might have some work for you down the road. Sorry about the loss of your friend Bill from Music Tech.

Jeff

Hey Corey, how are you doing? This is Randy. I heard Bill passed away earlier this year, sorry to hear about that. What are you doing these days? I'm still over at GMU working in the Bioengineering dept. teaching introductory electronics to our students. Let's get together sometime!
