simul justus et peccator
About a decade ago, I decided to get rid of my vinyl collection (at that time about 5,000 LPs). About a third of my collection went to my church's rummage sale. This was mostly Rock 'n Roll LPs of no great value to me, uninteresting Classical, and a bunch of novelty records. Some gems, but not too many.
The shock of parting with this vinyl drove me in the other direction: I started playing, acquiring, and hunting vinyl again. But in my LP metanoia, I couldn't find some of my LPs by a certain artist I liked. I knew I had pulled a handful of LPs out of a box I took to the church, but I was wondering if the fever of dis-collecting had caused me to make a horrible mistake. For years, I have been haunted by my mistake.
Yesterday, my thirty-something daughter said to me, "I have a bunch of LPs you gave me years ago that I don't have any interest in, it's just not my kind of music. Do you want them back? I haven't even played them."
"What are they?!" I asked, breathlessly.
And now, the rest of the story.
Well, there were thirteen (a handful) of LPs in her possession (now back in mine). I recall now giving them to her because they were too good to go to the rummage sale, but I didn't think I was ever going to play them again. They have been unplayed since she took them. Pristine condition (some jacket wear). First editions mostly (US or EU). Here's the list.
