Low subwoofer pre-out signal

Hi all, I have a yamaha receiver and the sub signal output when I connect my Crown XLi 2500 up to the sub out the signal seems to be very weak but used with my home theater active subwoofer signal is strong. Anyone know if the ART CLEANBoxPro 2-channel Balanced / Unbalanced Converter would be a good line signal booster for this or go with something better? I use all rca cables no need for anything different.

Your Crown amp should have user-selectable input sensitivity, from .77v to 1.4v. Is it on the .77v setting? That is the most sensitive.

Well guess what..., when I connect my Yamaha RX-Z9 to my Crown PSA-2XH used to power a JBL W15GTi sub, I also find the volume quite low. My remedy was to put my old dBX subharmonic synthesizer/bass boost in line before the Crown. Turning up the boost a bit took care of the issue and I get another octave if I want it.

Thanks I forgot DBX even made those that would be a good eq type to use with my future setup
 
Have you tried forcing the subwoofer output level to +10 dB in the Yamaha settings? I assume you already have the amp gain near max.

I use the ART cleanbox pro between my Yamaha AVR and my Crown XTi 2002 which requires balanced XLR inputs and does not have the input voltage switch.

Yes the settings were always the first thing i look into its already all the way up on the yamaha the subwoofer only goes up to +3db
