Yes, another Luxman product that needed some thermal engineering along the way. Did you lift the resistors above the board a bit to lower their operating temp? I did that with the MB-3045 amps I repaired. Lots of Luxman gear seems to need this kind of help.
Are there other brands that have as many burned up boards as Luxman? I just don't think they had the Thermal Engineering Dept that other companies had.

This is how I got this...This was a 1 owner and Never was in for service. I have a R-1040 and R-1050 that also came this way. Seems a Factory Mod.
Oh yes I have lifted this up. I do see this in Luxman more. Another reason I go over these Very Well and replace what I do not like.
Joe always enjoy your work, preparation and study before a rebuild, and the work and result. You seem to work on a wide range of audio. Just wanted to add my 2 cents on some films you may like to try if not on this project maybe a future one. I have messed with over 20 brands and types of films with listening included in some of my Marantz projects. Surely everyone has their favorites:

I hear you...Going over the info on L-100U these 2 parts come up as BAD overtime. VD1221 diodes and 2SC1345 transistor. Since I have the boards apart these are being replaced.

Once I get the Caps, Diodes and Transistor replaced with around 100hrs of burn-in...then I will look into the Films. As you know...This can change the Sound...Going SLOW on this one with Lots of triple checking.

Of the many I have listened to the Supreme caps are awesome. Used in the right places they give you a peek into high end sound with real body behind the singers along with amazing dimensionality. If you enjoy what they do that is really special sonically you will take the time to get them to fit in the most importiant signal path locations, they play very well with the real cap RT's.

Ready to start and going over the Equalizer Board...the replacement Transistors have different pin outs.
Original Hitachi 2SC1345 pin outs: 1.Emitter 2. Collecter 3. Base
Fairchild BC550CTA pin outs: 1. Collector 2. Base 3. Emitter
Need to "Criss Cross Applesauce" the Collecter and Base for BC550CTA

will these transistors be getting pants to keep the leads from touching?
I would but there is a lot of space on this Luxman for the transistors.

2SC1345 a transistor that was used by the truck load at Lux Corp when they built the C-1000, C1010, L100 and L110 units. I have not done the tants or the 1345s in the C-1000 but did replace most of the other 'lytics. Haven't done the two big caps in that preamp yet. Sounds much better.
