Luxman LX-104 Suckface Microswitch

I have an LX-104 that I picked up a while back that I'm bringing back from the dead. I have all the amp features working except for the suckface. I have the suckface close to working but I broke the microswitch during reassembly! Its a fiddly little thing and I'm guessing not a readily available repair part. I'm wondering if anyone out there has experience with sourcing a replacement for the that part? Would love to not have to spend a bunch of time on mouser trying to find a replacement! Backup option is to just have the motor run per the front panel button, not perfect but may be close enough.

Suckface is a luxman feature on a series of early 80s gear. Kind of hard to explain but the front face moves in and out for the controls on one side. I ordered a few subminiature microswitches from mouser. Will see if I can fit.

Thanks for responding, Craig. I actually sold some Luxman amps and tuners in the 1981 timeframe when I worked for a Team Electronics franchise. Beautiful equipment! Was the front panel feature some kind of sliding controls cover? It was the most exotic line we had available. The higher end Luxman items took a long time to get, as I recall (probably not stocked in the USA!) I sold pairs of their biggest amp along with Bose 901’s when price was secondary to performance. We would set a switch on the rear to mono, and use their high-end preamp. Absolutely amazing. Ha! Wish I had picked up a couple of those back then, but never did. Fun detail- I did purchase the RT-909 shown in my Avatar as a trade-in during that period.

So I'm still searching for a good replacement microswitch for my luxman. Its a very tight spot so the depth of the switch has to be less than 3mm. I bought a OMRON D2MQ that fits in there, but it doesn't give me enough room for adjustment to get the cam to stop at the right spot. Basically the D2MQ is sort of square and I need a more rectangular switch. Anyone else out there ever had to replace a microswitch on the servo for one of these luxman's?

Yes, exactly. I broke the original in the process of changing the belt:( Now I'm trying to source a replacement.

I share your frustration. It's not easy to replace the belt. And I had two to replace. But it's a very cool thing at least to me seeing the face in action. Fortunately to me, it's a very minor problem if I recall correctly.

Good luck finding the replacement part.

Maybe there is a way to 3d print something that will repair the switch or allow another new switch to be installed.

I was able to finally find a way to replace the microswitch in my LX-104 with a currently available part. I used an OMRON D2HW-C221H. I did have to modify the OMRON part a bit to get it to work. If you need a part the Fuxtor I can modify one and send to you. I bought a few extra switches. PM me.

Yes, I can post a couple of pics. I only thought to take the pics after I had everything partially reassembled so its a little hard to see what I did. I'll attempt to explain when I post later.

I found one that partially works, I need to push the power button twice to get the face to push out tho.... If you can post a procedure on how you modded that switch, that would be great!

I got thinking... I've read a few posts about a microswitch replacement working, but not quite right on the timing, being the cam stops a touch early and results in the face not sucking in at power up because the cam needs another small nudge to get the mechanism reset. Another cycle of on/off gives it enough. Looking at the schematic shows that power off bump coming from a capacitor that is discharged when the circuit is shut off. Would a larger capacitance at this spot give an extra push on the cam?
