Luxman M-2000 fuse lamps: adapting 6.3V models for 10V operation

Hi,

This amp uses longer fuse lamps of 45mm.
As 41mm ones also fit, I wanted to know if someone used the common 6.3V fuse lamp. This one shows a 270 ohms resistor on the bottom side of the pcb, so I wondered if replacing it with a 430 ohms (or so) would do the trick.
Or whether there is a 10V model selling at reasonable price.

Hello. So you want to use 6.3V bulbs fed by a 10V circuit. If it's 10 V AC, perhaps fitting a diode in series with the 10V supply could be enough. It will drop 1/2 of the AC sine-wave, reducing it to average 5V. If you have some bulbs at hand you could try it and check the brightness you get. Dropping 4V with a single resistor is also possible, but you need to check the current drawn by the bulbs, the wattage needed and the heat it will generate.

Also, check the actual voltage you have at the bulb terminals.
