Luxman PX-100 Redux!

Hi Vinyl fans,

It has been a few weeks since I finished the luxman PX-100, she sounds awesome! Playing Al Di Meola "Elegant Gypsy"

Looks like a winner John! What did you have to do with it?

Just put my Luxman PD-277 back in rotation and it's playing nicely. I've found that changes to VTA can throw the auto functions out of alignment (lead-in, lead-out) if I'm not very careful with arm alignment on the plinth. Otherwise it's a tank!

BTW, Elegant Gypsy is a killer album. Romantic Warrior is another one in the same genre.

Your PD-277 is Very Nice! I did a recap on the PSB and the Motor PCB, lube the main bearing also. Clean up the whole unit, very dirty.

Seller said it did not work, it just needed a good cleaning and a lube job and it´s playing again. still working on the cover, polishing it.

Real Cool! I find most of the repairs are just that, cleaning and lube, basic maintenance.

That is a linear tracker that I would like !!! I think someone on here has a real similar looking table by Mitsubishi ? Might be the same units .

Properly is, as far as i know, all Luxman TT´s are made by other brands. Here are some night shots (it´s almost midnight here) of the newly polished cover and TT playing Scorpions Lovedrive (yes the xrated cover with the girl and the bubblegum!)

how did you lube the main bearing? I can't see any opening to do so on my table.

Removed the motor to lube it, when I had the PCB out to recap.

Thanks for the link John, it's apparent from your pics that they used a completely different motor in the PD277. If I ever have rumble issues I may have to take a drill to mine, just not yet!

After I drilled the hole I could remove the spindle, then I oiled it up and glued the hole off with epoxy to keep the oil in, reinstalled the spindle. Next time I am installing an oil tube. You may not have to drill a hole in the bearing, check to see if the spindle comes out 1st.
