Luxman R-1050 on it's way...

I eagerly await the arrival of a Luxman R-1050. I've read a lot of good things regarding this 'under-the-radar' receiver.

I'd love to hear some AK opinions on the Luxman R-1050.

Love my Luxman R-3045. Velvety smooth controls with the sound to match. Your model just preceded mine. They were top shelf recievers back in the day and built to last. Thought you might like reading some Luxman history...

Proud owner of Luxman R-1040, R-1070, R-1120, R-1120a, R-113, R-405 and R-117. And I am still hunting integrate and separates. IMHO, Luxman is best sounding piece of 70's vintage ones. ( Though I never heard MC and Accuphase.)

You will like this receiver. It sounds very good. $595 new IIRC and not discounted like some of the major brands.

I saved one from the trash years ago... then whilst cleaning it my young stepsons pulled out the tuner string...

But it has a lovely amp and its so pretty.

Its always hooked up somewhere in my house.

For whatever reason, the R-1050 seems to get more raves than the R-1070; not to take anything away from the R-1070, but the true 'stand-by' is the R-1050....it must be the tried & true. I just fell victim of the 1050 virus because I just bought one to see what it's all about! I already have a 1040 & a 1070. I've been bit bad by the Luxman bug.

I had a R-1070...For me it was So So..Now for the R-117..

The R1050 sounds fantastic. These Luxman receivers are very underrated but sound really good.

Good point, CohibaJoe. The R-1070 seems a little "so-so." Couldn't find an R-117, so be kind to it and enjoy! I got as close as I could with an R-115.

Suntori3, I must be suffering from 'get all the Luxmans I can get' syndrome. The R-1040 was very good, but I understand the R-1050 is a big step better.

I just gave away a 1050 to my nephew to "store" until my son gets back from S. Korea, when it will be his. Nephew not so interested, but son is, and I hope it will be appreciated, but my expectations may be unrealistic. We'll see later this year.

I only had the receiver for about 9 months, but totally enjoyed it. Smooth, with decent power, and rarely touched the tone controls.
