Exactly what I was thinking. If you have something sealed in an original box then why on earth would you not provide a photo?

I asked him to send me a pic...here it is.

That is not how Luxman shipped new equipment. What he sent a picture of is the inner box that was Not Taped. The drawstrings are all that held the inner box. The outer box was plain with a label about 4"x12" with the model number and serial number.

I would think this is a repackaged unit that may have been removed from service or not used. I would need to see the inner packaging to see the plastic bag the unit is in. It is very hard to make these look never opened.

I'll see if I have any Luxman double boxes in the basement. Doubt it but never know.

I sent an email to them, explaining that they probably did NOT have a 'new, unopened' Lux....and why.

Hi Gary,
Your friend is obviously overlooking the sealed tape in the photo. Besides that, inside this is going to be popcorn and paper wrapping the unit. While it's true that it was originally double boxed, this inner box for this unit is still sealed. I have another piece, an L-100 from the same source, with it's original double box. Inside that is the inner box and inside that is popcorn and paper wrapping the unit.
Based on your skepticism, I strongly advise against bidding on this unit. We know what we have and so will some lucky winner. We didn't get 100% positive feedback by being idiots.

I'm writing again from the vantage point of humility...after thrashing things over with Jeff, we tenderly opened the L-100 that was only partially sealed. It turns out you are absolutely correct and we are indeed idiots. The consignee has misinformed us and we will now cancel the auctions.
