I have a pair of LWE-I Erath speakers and looking for a clip kit or an amp that has negative feedback design to work with these. Please give me pointers if you can help. Thanks.

By the way, these sound very very nice.

There is a Yahoo group that seems to have a lot of information about these speakers. They have a small following as not too many people have seen or heard of them. Go to Yahoo, then groups, then do a search for "lewusersgroup" and you should find more information on what you are looking for.

A couple of AKers including myself frequent that group. There is a growing database of clipkits, including some of the original data from the production period and some that users have worked out more recently. I'm working on a Sansui AU-517 mod right now.

Mr. Erath is in his 90s, and still designing speakers. Pretty cool dude.

Tox, would you be willing to mod an amp to include this clipkit things for me - I would be happy to compensate you for your time of course. I have a couple of class D amps, a Kenwood KA-6000, and some other vintage radioshack receiver....

I wish! I'd love to but I'm not good enough to do somebody else's. By "working on" I meant I did a lot of footwork, including identifying an amp I thought would meet my needs, calling Mr. Erath and sending schematics to get a suggested hookup, then finding someone to do it. I actually sent mine to DeWick Repairs in TN (Terry DeWick is an AK sponsor). He repaired the used broken amp and did the mod. Very simple but for me the trick was knowing WHERE to clip in. Turns out it sounds like crap, but the guys on the Yahoo group are guiding me thru some tests. It's only a cap and resistor, which I can change out for different values now that I know where on the dadblamed board it's supposed to connect to. Once we get it dialed in and get the bass where it's supposed to be, we'll have a clipkit for the database for the 517.

I would suggest reading up on the Yahoo group and think about what you'd like - receiver or integrated amp for example; from the LWE era with clipkit already designed, or later (requiring a design); and go from there. Get a Yahoo ID if you don't have one and post on the group.

Just way too cool to let go the way of the dinosaur, these LWE's...like finicky sports cars.

Keep in touch.

Thanks Tox. Like you I am not much of a tech hence looking for a ready built amp/receiver w/ clipkits ready so I can just plug-n-play. I dont know what my LWE-1 would sound like with the kit but using them the way they are with my class-d 41hz amp6, they sound absolutely fabulous. I had them sit on top of my Altec Sevilles cabinets and these have to be the best that I've ever listened to. I preferred it to Altec voice of the theatre, dalquist dq-10, altec sevilles, ads l-810........
