What do you guys think about the MA-230 with Khorns?
I'm shopping for something for the Khorns. I was thinking about a Fisher or Scott but this MA-230 is local it works and $600.

Any advice appreciated.

If it's in nice cosmetic condition, get it. Keep in mind the '230 has a solid state pre amp section.

This is for my living room which is stereo used mostly for tv movies and some cds. I wouldn't say it is for critical listening. The 230 looks good and has a wood cabinet. The cabinet is ok.

Sounds like a good deal and plenty of power for the Khorns. Getting your money back should you not like it will not be an issue, but I think you will like it just fine. :)

I've always liked the MA 230, especially the amp section. In fact, the DIY P-P 6550 amp in my signature is based on that amp. Same outputs and circuit, but the front end is regulated, B+ increased to 600 volts, and use 6550/KT88/KT90 tubes. Same feedback scheme as the original.

I have a Mac1500 which, IIRC, is an MA230 with a tuner. Love it. Should sound great with anything Klipsch. I had it pushing KG 2.5s for a while, nice match. Send it out to Terry or Audioclassics for a tune up.

The MA230 can be easily set up to run as a stand alone tube amp also. I use mine with my MX110, great combination.
