Magic Eraser - How often do you use it on your records?

I still prefer the Bergeon 7033 Rodico Premium putty over any other product like Blu-Stik or other adhesive putties. No oil and not meant to stick, just clean. Works flawlessly.
I do a few dips before every side.

I bought the Rodico putty to give it a try. That it is used to clean watch parts and tools was the deciding factor.
 
I’ve pretty much tried all the different types of stylus cleaning (except ultrasonic stylus cleaning) and I have found the Audio Intelligent stylus cleaner works best for me.

Older thread, sorry

I was struggling with a installing a cartridge on a headshell and was racking my brain for a tool to hold the nut, just right. I walked to my watch bench and grabbed my Rodico. I never thought about using it on stereo stuff.

Sometimes I just don't get posts like this with this way of thinking.
OP wants his 2M blue to last because they are not cheap but uses a shade tree hack to clean the stylus that is not cheap.
Hope the OP just bought a proper stylus brush,this works best for me.
In all honesty I did try the ME once and after dipping my stylus a few times in a row,the same debris was still on the stylus,did not work for me.
 
I've been using the Rodico as @Redd House recommended and it cleans the stylus just fine but so did the Blu Stik. However, I can hear that the Blu Stik, is, well, sticky, since lifting the stylus out of the Blu Stik makes more noise then when I lift the stylus out of the Rodico. So does the Rodico put less stress on the stylus than Blu Stik? :dunno:

I can't say for sure which one is better but I put a few divots in the Rodico before every side and my stylus is perpetually spotless.

Oh yeah I forgot, the article by Michael Fremer from AnalogPlanet. I read that with a grain of salt. I've used the Zerodust for many years with no issues, as have probably thousands of others.

May have been some factors not easily explainable? Age, how they are stored, a funny batch, or a "New Improved Model", which how we all know that usually means the exact opposite.

As we all also know, it's hard to place an exact number of when to clean a Stylus? Bare minimum to get the job done I'd say.

Back 30 years ago, I was often seeing quite nasty build-up, dust bunnies galore, etc on my Stylus', and was largely influenced by my care, or a lack of, and my products-methods-tools for cleaning-upkeep of records.
 
The risk with "brushing" with Magic Eraser is the risk of pulling the cantilever out of the suspension. Probably not going to dislodge a diamond.

That's something I've never done with the ME, I never had the need to go that far with ultra aggressive methods-tools to keep my Stylus' tip top.

In basket cases, the ME Can be used to very carefully massage all around a Stylus without snagging it, or deflecting the Cantilever excessively, It can take the eyes and hands of a brain surgeon.

Best way in this case is to cut the ME to a feather shaped piece-slice with a razor, or razor sharp knife.
